A Perfect Day

Heh, as much as I love complaining about my life, I think it could definitely be much worse. Like, I could have a terminal disease, be a broke(r) ass and have no friends.

I finally passed the exam for my driver's license. That means I could drive and not kill myself any time now. I also got a promotion that should bring out positive, less tedious things to my professional life. Money wise I should be doing fine enough within the next few months, I might be able to afford my own place and car and would finally detach myself from my family completely.

Life is not so bad. Then again, I've just been having a few good days. There are still problems and bullshit lying about waiting to blow up in my face. I just gotta be careful and tiptoe through all of it.

Huge Barrels of AIDS

This is going to sound too damn cliche coming from me.

I hate attention whores, fame whores, no-good sluts and anyone who's famous for doing absolutely nothing.

I believe in fairness and earning one's money the right way. The world is already unfair enough with all the genocides and wars and social inequality to be letting ordinary sluts take control of the entire planet.

Who cares what Miley Cyrus smoked on her birthday? We all know she's doomed to have a sex tape leaked on the internet soon, and her rehab stint is probably already paid for. Why is it surprising the kid is doing drugs? And why do we care she is? I bet we wouldn't care that much if it was one of our own friends doing it. We wouldn't even give a shit if we ourselves did it!

"Lindsay is my role model."

And what about Kim Kardashian's ass? I know LOTS of women with an ass just as big as hers, and I don't see them naked all over the internet. In fact, I know people whose big asses are far more talented than Kim Kardashian's will ever be, and I don't see them making big bucks for showing up at parties and blowing crusty ass dudes.

Big talent

Seriously, die already. I really hope all these girls fall into a huge pool of AIDS with their eyes wide open and go the fuck away. They really don't do anything for humanity, and the world wouldn't suffer if they were gone. Maybe lots of nerdy sociopaths will cry at the loss of their daily supply of masturbatory material, but I am pretty sure they would find a replacement soon. Hentai would be a good choice.

Thanks to my good friend Eduardo for coining the term "barrel of AIDS" and letting me use it, as well as its myriad variations. Kim Kardashian's ass is a huge barrel of AIDS.

Future Perfect

Lately I've been thinking about the future in ways I never had before. I guess that's what happens when you grow up. Even though the core of my interests and goals has remained more or less the same, I've been re-prioritizing ideas and shifting focus from one set of plans to another. And as this has been taking place, new ideas and interests have begun to emerge. Everything is changing and I've been stuck in a changeless world way too long to know how to take it. So, I've decided to write down a list of things I want to do, careers I'd like to pursue, plans I'd like to carry out and dreams I'd like to fulfill in the near and not-so-near future, so I can go back to it and remind myself of what I once wanted, if I ever forget it. I won't bother to sort them in order of importance because I'd spend much longer trying to figure that out than my life allows me to give to one single blog post.

  1. Get a Master's degree in human development/human rights/human-related issues: I've been struggling with career issues for the last 10 years, and I've finally found something I feel absolutely passionate about.
  2. Study fashion design: Won't take me long. I don't need a degree, just need to know that I can do it.
  3. Become a radio DJ: I might be prepared to do the job. I might.
  4. Move to New York City: I really don't need to explain this.
  5. Become a human rights activist: Closely related to point #1, I'd like to start here.
  6. Open my own tea shop: I'm pretty sure it's the one business I wouldn't get bored of.
  7. Learn how to drive: This is happening soon, I promise. Serious. (fingers crossed)
  8. Travel to Asia: I figured, if I am one of the very few people who wouldn't mind taking a six-connection flight, I am bound to fly everywhere the wind blows. I plan on traveling the ENTIRE world, including Antarctica, but I'll start with Asia because they have wonderful tea. When in Asia, I plan on going to Iran too, JSYK.
  9. Learn how to play the drums: It seems like the obvious thing to do, right? If I love music, I should play an instrument. I chose the drums cause they are badass.
  10. Live in Norway: I love Scandinavia. If I could marry a country, I would become polygamous and marry all three Scandinavian countries. I wish all countries were like them.
  11. Have three dogs: I already have one, but because of space restrictions, I can't get more. Hope this changes soon.
  12. Have a small, powerful laptop: I know I can find one, I just need to look further.
  13. Be smart: I know school won't make you smart, but I think it can help me a great deal. A Ph.D wouldn't be too bad.
  14. GRADUATE!!!: This is priority #1 right now. Until I can cross this out of the list, I will not be happy. This needs to happen next year.
  15. Write something worthwhile and get paid for it: It's not about the money, but the satisfaction of knowing my writing is worth a damn.

That seems to be pretty much all for now. I will update this periodically if any new interests shall come up. I'm sure, if I manage to do at least five things on this list, I'll be happy.

I Am Morbid

Tonight I joked about killing myself. Twice. I wasn't one-hundred percent joking, to be honest. Just talking under the influence of pain and sugary sour tequila. A friend told me she would hang me from my nipples if I ever dared kill myself. It was all a joke. We both laughed, then we cried, then we laughed again.

I was joking.

Except I wasn't joking.

It's so hard to tell the difference between joke and fact, sometimes I get caught up in my own fantasies and forget how I really feel. Maybe I really was joking. Maybe she really would hang me from my nipples.

Sometimes I wonder how I can joke so lightly about suicide when it's such a serious and sometimes touchy issue to me. I don't even know which part of me jokes and which part of me feels affected by the jokes. I am a morbid person and I will never change. Maybe I do want to kill myself, and that'll be the end of my morbidity.

I make people uncomfortable sometimes. I make myself uncomfortable many times. Maybe the key to my happiness lies in me being morbid and being able to stop it. I really don't understand.

I do have a good heart.

Inspired By Vuvuzela

Once every four years, the world gets together to celebrate the biggest event in soccer, and probably sports altogether: The FIFA World Cup. This year, FIFA has chosen South Africa as the host country, making this the first African country ever to host this grand event.

Now, while I am not fully experiencing World Cup fever the way a true soccer fan should, given that my team is not participating in the World Cup, and tbh, I'm suffering from a mild case of sour grapes; I am very much a supporter of every team that sets the name of my continent high. I have rooted for Argentina (even though I hate their guts cause they really are a lousy people), Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil and Chile. I can't explain why, but every time I hear one of them has won (and they all have, so SUCK ITTT! SOUTH AMERICA RULES!), I smile proudly like it's my own team scoring a win in the name of my country. It makes me forget about borders and conflicts and racial issues and bullshit (see Argentina) and just kick back, watch the game with friends and enjoy the moment. It's a nice feeling.

I know if you're from the United States, or just a bitter asshole, you won't understand. This is probably a South American thing. Not even -- it's a culture thing. There are only a handful of things that have the power of uniting a whole people the way soccer does in my country. I really can't think of any other off the top of my head, not even politics, not even crisis or wealth. When people watch soccer here, they're not from a region, or from a province or a town -- they're from a country, all of them. And they share the same feelings and the same emotions, and the same adrenaline courses through every single person's body. It's about national pride and honor, and in a country so fucked up by corruption and injustice, people are desperate to feel proud. Now that the world feels like one big developing country, with all the crimes and money issues and oil spills and what-have-you, it feels pretty fucking good to have a few hours to just rejoice in the guiltless pleasure of soccer, and feel proud.

So, yeah, I am pretty grateful that the World Cup exists. I should send FIFA a fruit basket thanking them for all the cocktails I've drunk and all the hookahs I've smoked and all the sushi rolls I've eaten and all the laughs I've had while watching soccer.

Repetitive Monotonous

I'm being haunted by yet another Nine Inch Nails song. I thought my obsessive NIN fangirl days were over, but old habits die hard, and this habit is like a fucking cockroach and it seems will survive the end of the fucking world. Personally, I wanted my next obsession to be either Happiness in Slavery (from Broken) or Sunspots (from a-With-a_Teeth-a) because heaven knows I would marry any of those songs (I would propose, even) any day. Nah, it's not either of those. Instead, it is this precious gem I can't stop humming:

Watching all the insects march along
Seem to know just right where they belong
Smears of face reflecting in the chrome
Hiding in the crowd I'm all alone
No one's heard a single word I've said
They don't sound as good outside my head
It looks as though the past is here to stay
I've become a million miles a...
Why do you get all the love in the world?
All the jagged edges disappear
Colors all look brighter when you're near
The stars are all afire in the sky
Sometimes I get so lonely I could...
Why do you get all the love in the world?
Why do you get all the love?

I swear to God, this song fucking follows me EVERYWHERE I go! Weird, considering I spent a good amount of time hating it, skipping it on iTunes and even denying its existence. Now, I will never understand why I hated it so, it's not such a bad song. I mean, it's not Deep or Kinda I Want To. Maybe it creeped me out cause after one hell of a fucking long wait for a NIN album, the first song I get is some sort of awkward Radiohead-meets-Fleetwood Mac sonic hybrid, and well... it was weird. All the Love in the World isn't horrible, not in the very least. I was just expecting something less... gospel-choir-y.

Well anyway, I'm scared. I've listened to ATLITW a grand total of 17 times just today. I'm not sure, but taking a wild guess, I'd say I listened to it about 45 times yesterday, and, I don't know, about 54765476800000000000 times during this past weekend. Talk about getting stuck in the sound.

I need a new obsession. I'm on a diet, working in the afternoon, which I never did before (usually had the ass-crack-of-dawn-shift) and quitting alcohol for good (or at least till NY... or maybe the trip I'm planning with Dani in October) so my entire system is screwed up. I mean, All the Love in the World??? What's next, Ringfinger??? (actually, I'm also slightly obsessed with Twist, the Purest Feeling version of Ringfinger. Oh, fuck!)

(I don't even know why I'm blogging about this, I'm in Computer Science class and this is boring me the FUCK out!)

PS, I think the bass on All the Love in the World is slightly reminiscent of that on Massive Attack's Angel. I don't know where I get these fucked up ideas.

Bands Who...

... Should GET OFF THEIR ASSES AND PUT OUT SOME NEW MUSIC ASAP!

Interpol: Nope, that Paul Banks solo album doesn't count. Chances are, if the new album ever gets made, it's gonna blow chunks, but I just need to hear it.

Arcade Fire: They released a DVD this year, but no new music. They need to make the album that will bring John Peel back from the dead, and they gotta make it quick.

Massive Attack: Have been working on a supposed new album for centuries... *yawn*.

Nine Inch Nails: Trent HAS GOT TO fucking make a new Fragile-esque album to redeem himself and get back all the fans he has lost. I expect nothing short of stellar, Year Zero-like at the very least. If it's like With Teeth, that's it, I'm joining the Manson Army.

My Bloody Valentine: What the fuck, I can't even keep track of what these dudes are up to. So they reunited, right? And there was a new album in the making, right? So where the fuck is it?

UNKLE: I totally digged (dug? dugged?) the new formula these peeps applied on 2007's War Stories, and they need to repeat it every year. Hell, they should release albums like that every month.

Atari Teenage Riot: Yes, I know they're no more. But wouldn't it be nice?

The Rapture: They're just too good to retire yet. I know that with the indie invasion currently taking place in the hipster world, these guys might have already gone out of business, but for what it's worth, they're still my hipster new wave/funk band of choice *hugs*.

White Rose Movement: These dudes have also been working on an "as-of-yet-unnamed" new album since '06, which IMHO is code for "there's no album per se yet but we'll get right to it as soon as the hangover wears out". Haha, who would have thought rockstars would be worse procrastinators than I am?

The Knife: I mean THE KNIFE, beautiful, sweet Karin Dreijer Andersson and her stupid brother Olof making creepy computer music with funny Scandinavian accents, not just one or the other crapping records that critics like to call "Knife-ish 'with an edge'". This being said, I loved Karin Dreijer's sans-Olof effort Fever Ray. It's good, yes, but it's not the same.

M.I.A.: ... On second thought, I heard she's been hanging out with Christina Aguilera and Timbaland. Methinks, if the follow-up to 2007's wonderful Kala ever comes out, it's gonna have Will.I.Am in it and we do NOT want that.

Desert Sessions: I hate to say this, but Josh Homme rocks the motherfucking house in the Desert Sessions. Perhaps all the crusty stoner/slacker dudes that were ever a part of this collective could get back together and make one final volume? Pretty please? I doubt Jeordie White is doing anything remarkable right now. Oh, speaking of, Goon Moon also needs to put out new shit. And White needs to just shower.

The Dresden Dolls: I know Amanda Palmer has her solo shit going on and is shacking up with Neil Gaiman himself, but dude, what about Brian Viglione? I bet he's got bills to pay.

The Jesus and Mary Chain: Currently working on a new album. They need to go back to 1986 and make another Psychocandy, only completely different and more like Darklands... if that makes any sense.

Neutral Milk Hotel: Seriously, angels would cry with joy of they ever release new music.

Radiohead: Because In Rainbows was underwhelming. I heard somewhere in the Twitterverse there's a new Radiohead song spreading through the interwebs like the swine flu. Ok, so technically, Radiohead does not belong on this list. However, if this new track is an In Rainbows outtake, I'm calling bullshit on it, disqualifying it and keeping Radiohead on the list.

A Perfect Circle: Another Jeordie White project that needs to get back to life. One song would suffice, just fucking one!

Dead Can Dance: *sigh* Not happening, not in a million years.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor: What's their status anyway? Dead? Hiatus? Alive? Stoned out of their minds? What the hell, dudes?

Autolux: Ok, so they released the Audience No. 2 single from their highly anticipated second album Transit Transit like a million years ago and still, I have yet to see the rest of the album! I even forgot there's an Autolux album "in production"!

Blonde Redhead: They are kind of out of the radar these days. Hopefully that means they're churning out some amazing new record that will bring the new Yeah Yeah Yeahs to its knees!

M83: Because albums like last year's Saturdays=Youth should come out every year.

So all y'all, please quit fucking around and get to work! The world needs you! There's new Jonas Brothers and Katy Perry albums being made by the hour!

Checking in with C (cause I haven't blogged enough lately)

This week, for the first time in... a long fucking time, I bought an album on iTunes. I know I vowed to never hand those bastards my precious money again, but this time I had to and it was fucking worth it. The item in question: the Moon original soundtrack by Clint Mansell.

I hate my job, I hate my job, I hate my job...

I like someone, and I totally hate this cause knowing how fucking pathetic I am, my crush will be completely unrequited and I'll end up depressed. Not to mention it's practically impossible and crazy and so fucking typical of me. Shhhhhh!!!

I'm drinking again. I don't like this either cause knowing how lame a drunk I am, I've probably revealed way too much of my ugly self in my drunken stupors and that's NOT good. Just ask Twitter.

Grecia is back, yay!

I'm pretty sure I'll be spending my birthday in New York, which would be fucking amazing (for the most part) if I didn't know there are already some people planning how they're gonna get me drunk on Nov. 3rd, and as I mentioned before, that's NOT good. It also seems I'll be spending my 21st with Lisette -- if I convince her to stay that long. Good? Yeah!

Michael Reznor announced the 'last ever' NIN tour dates, (ooooohhhh!). Presale tickets went on sale on July 17th, causing a massive NINternet collapse which left most of the NINtard/NIN fangirl/cool NINer population ticketless. People, are you ever gonna learn to NEVER take El Rezzo's word seriously? I give his break two years tops. He'll be back. [Don't get me wrong, I, too, wish I could go to one of those shows, but I've already fed my NIN obsession way too much. Time to move on.]

Speaking of, His Holiness Trent 'Bitch Fit' Reznor, called bullshit on everyone and deleted his two Twatter accounts and his fiancee's, because of course, a smart man like him knows the only opinion that matters is the trolls'. In addition, he's also disabled the PM feature on his nin.com profile, in an attempt to disconnect himself from the meanie NINternets and live in the real world. I'm not gonna comment on or judge his decision, but... dude, he should have done that a long time ago, in PRIVATE! In any case, and cause I know he's totally reading this, he should fill this out. (Posted that on my Twitter a while ago but since he wasn't reading his @replies, I didn't send it to him.)

Speaking of, I am done talking about Trent. Unless he releases cool new music or does something non assholey for a change, I'm giving him the silent treatment, so to speak.

I'm getting better at simul. I mean, what the fuck, I interpreted two hours worth of a Non-Aligned Movement meeting laden with weird Middle Eastern and African and Indian and Asian accents and weird language and big words and shit and I didn't totally fuck up! Could it be that doing simul is really my thing? I can say, in all honesty, I enjoy interpreting UN-type of speeches, like that NAM meeting, and I'm truly interested in the issues addressed in them, the language is easy to get used to, the terminology is fairly easy and... well, interpreting this kind of thing gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside, like you're actually helping save the world or something. Granted, these people are NOT gonna save the word, and neither are the interpreters, but fuck it, it's a cool job.

Speaking of, I still suck big time and need to practice.

And I still hate my job.

I like gladiator sandals. Why? No fucking idea.

My Italian doesn't suck.

"If you're happy and you know it, that's a sin!" from The Simpsons. Fuck, lolololol! WIN!

I've recently come to realize how much I love music. I would be fucking nothing without it.

A professor called me 'smart' the other day, and told my friends she always thinks of me first when planning the class. This made me feel good, but the prof is a total wacko so I don't know how to feel about that.

Life is pretty good in general. Can't complain.

And that's all.
